Reducing the Cost of Employee Expenses

Managers in the Public Sector are constantly under pressure to achieve greater efficiency and demonstrate cost reduction. Managers in the Private Sector face the same issues of best value and cost reduction.

Managers in the Public Sector have to combine the fact that many costs are increasing above the rate of inflation against the pressure to keep budgetary increases at or below inflation. Managers in the Private Sector are working in an environment where profits are harder to find and costs tightly controlled.

As part of a national drive to modernise government, the 'Gershon' review expects the public sector to achieve efficiency savings of 2.5% each year. Many companies in the UK face new scrutiny under the Sarbanes Oxley Act in the United States.

As a Manager the question is 'How do I achieve this?'

We believe that part of the answer is 'Active Expenses Management'.
When you consider that in Bristol City Council's case, a reduction of 1 mile from each employee's expense claim form would save around £22,000 each year, it certainly makes you think hard about how strict your policy ought to be.
